And without forgetting...the Cup

The scale of the event in terms of its organization and its cultural and social scope, the only time of the year in which Teramo becomes the true “centre of the world”, must not conceal the traditional aspects of the Interamnia event, which may almost seem to be collateral events, in view of the importance given to the town as being a Town open to the world. However these events highlight the unique nature of our town and in this week of 4-10th July, alongside the wider cultural initiative the following other international events will be held:

INTERAMNIA WORLD CUP

The 34rd edition of the international handball tournament

The world festival of youth handball. In which Teramo acts to broaden its horizons and is transformed into a giant handball court. The town is overcome by enthusiastic and high-spirited young people to give it a wonderful party spirit. The Interamnia Cup therefore consists of a succession of colours, games, initiatives and events, a wave of talent and enthusiasm, on such a scale and scope that it goes beyond a mere competitive sports event.

FROM TERAMO, ITALY

Grand opening of the “34rd Interamnia World Cup”.

A spectacular opening event which will take place on the evening of 4th July, featuring the athletes from all over the world, and their national costumes, Italian and foreign musical, folk and cultural groups of all kinds.

HAND MADE

This event will again be featured after a break of eight years, with the participation of both foreign and Italian exhibitors, associations and bodies, and featuring a high quality craft production, specifically aimed at promoting the handcraft sector of a large number of countries.

STREETANIMATION

During the week the streets, alleys and squares of Teramo will come alive with artists from all over the world, with a variety of musical and theatrical performances of all kinds (acrobats, jugglers, musicians, story-tellers, clowns, mime artists, theatrical performers etc).

The event brings together both the town of Teramo and its host of guests, and in a period of political unease it appears the ideal testimony of friendship and peaceful coexistence.
