IDEAS FOR A BETTER WORLD

During 2005, Teramo was the theater of an initiative such as “Teramo, a city open to the World”, the social-cultural importance of which makes us still feel the need for a renewal of this great attraction.

In the light of the second edition of the event, there are two elements which seem worthy of consideration:

1) A full involvement of all the local reality so as to extend the result of various years of committment towards a greater and more complex dimension.

2) The discussion of themes which take into consideration more than just a fun dimension, and which are perfectly complementary with the work carried out in the local realities; just consider international politics, current affairs, science research and art.

So as to keep the above mentioned two elements highlighted “Teramo, a city open to the World” has been enriched with the initiative “Ideas for a better World”, consisting in the following: People coming from the five symbol cities (represented during “Teramo, a city open to the World”) and other countries taking part in the project and belonging to various categories (science, politics, showbusiness, sport, environment, culutre, etc.) will be guests of the reality of the Abruzzo region.

They will have the opportunity of taking part in the local town life, even within the institutional meetings such as the Board of the Abruzzo Region, of the Province of Teramo and of the Municipal of Teramo, bringing their personal witness on the theme:

”Some ideas to improve the World” and in such a way creating a fruitful debate made up of the exchanging of ideas, suggestions, discussions, interventions ..... The theme will be discussed from three perspectives:

1) considering the “local” realities (what can be done to improve this small part of the World?);

2) considering international realities (what do the international people suggest so as to improve the World, or this small part of it?);

3) considering the single categories represented by the guest personalities (for example, What does the politician suggest so as to improve the World? And the reporter? What does the business man suggest? And the artist?).

The aim of the initiative is to create an international debate which awakens both the guest personalities on what is happening and developing in the World, and the international personalities on the dynamics of the local realities. The results of the various debates will, in this way, summarise the effort made to create a shared way of thinking.
